Conservation Commission
APPROVED MINUTES
January 3, 2011
A regular meeting of the Conservation Commission was held in the Town Offices on Monday, January 3, 2011 and called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Conservation Commission members in attendance: Carbee, Crooker, Hardwick, Holmes, Lindgren and Shuffleton. Secretary Lindgren took the minutes. The minutes of the 12/6/10 meeting were approved as amended.
Old Business
- Consultant Peter Throop is finalizing the new NRI maps for the town’s Master Plan update. He submitted a rough quote for $6000-$10,000 for developing a complege Conservation Plan. He also suggested applying for several foundation grants that have become available, including some which involve community involvement protocols, to support development of sections of the town’s Master Plan update.
- Chair Hardwick met with Brian Hotz at SPNHF to finalize the old ski area easement. SPNHF is doing a final review of the proposed easement.
- The status of various easement projects and protection opportunities was discussed
New Business
- A moonlight snowshoe hike is proposed for Friday February 19th or Saturday February 20th.
- Volunteers are sought to help clean out the duck boxes. This event will be scheduled, as it is every year, sometime in February.
- Scott Carbee suggests taking soil samples from the fields in the Town Forest, and providing nourishment to the wildlife habitat vegetation as may be appropriate.
- Crooker moved to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. Lindgren seconded the motion. All in favor.
