Board of Selectmen Meeting
Thursday, August 16, 2007
Present: Chairman Gerald McCarthy, Vice Chairman Marty Gilman, Selectman Paula Proulx and Selectman Joan Funk on the telephone.
Also Present Finance Administrator Pamela Merrill and Selectmen’s Secretary Megan Taylor-Fetter taking minutes.
At 2:30 PM, Chairman McCarthy called the meeting to order and stated that the purpose for calling an emergency meeting is to make a decision on the fuel bids as time is of the essence due to the situation with the gulf coast hurricane and the potential for flooding and the upcoming labor day weekend and the potential for change in the prices.
The Board discussed the bids. Pam presented the Board with a reduced price from Cardinal & Glidden for 2.349 per gallon. C&N Brown is still the low bidder at 2.275 per gallon. Marty expressed concern that the highway barn will probable use 2x the amount of heating fuel as last year due to more space.
Marty Gilman motioned to award the bid for #2 Heating Fuel to CN Brown at 2.275 cents per gallon. Joan Funk seconded the motion. All four Selectmen in favor.
Paula Proulx motioned to award the bid for Diesel to Downeast Energy at 2.751cents per gallon. Marty Gilman seconded the motion. All four Selectmen in favor.
The only bid for gas came in from CN Brown at .095 cents per gallon over rack price. The Board discussed that there was no minimum on the amount of gas purchased and the town vehicles could go to the pumps if the pump price goes lower than the bid price.
Marty Gilman motioned to award the bid for gas to CN Brown at .095 cents per gallon over rack price. Joan Funk seconded the motion. All four Selectmen in favor.
At 2:50, Chairman McCarthy motioned to adjourn. Joan Funk seconded the motion. All four Selectmen in favor.
