  • Upcoming programs and events-
  • Santa Meet and Greet (12/12/14)-Event will be set up during the day. Volunteers will be needed to take down the art projects at the end of the night.
  • December Senior Meal (12/17/14)-Most of the food has been donated. Volunteers will be needed to serve and help with clean up after the meal.  Rick will send out an email to request volunteers.
  • Daddy Daughter Dance (12/13/15)-This event will be set up during the day. There will be dancing and games. Volunteers will be needed to help with serving food and cleaning up.
  • Fundraising Ideas-
  • The Town Players will be having a show in March to help raise money towards the Hay Day fireworks.  The Committee will be needed to assist with promoting the event.
  • The Farmington Women’s Club will be holding a Chili Cook-off in March.  The Women’s Club will split the proceeds with the Recreation Department.  The money raised is for the Hay Day fireworks. Kathy King will be sending Rick an email with details after the holidays.
  • Craft Fair with Vendor raffle
  • Christmas Concert
  • Festival of Trees-Ask businesses to donate a decorated tree to be raffled off. Group discussed combining this event with Meet and Greet Santa and the Craft Fair to bring in a larger crowd.  The group also discussed inviting the HWMS students to do some caroling. Recreation Department will look into buying trees for next year’s event at a discount after the holidays.
  • Auction with childcare
  • Fisher Cats tickets- Ticket bundles are bought at a discount and the Recreation Dept. would make $4 for each ticket sold.
  • NHMS clean up after race
  • Margaritas-Recreation Dept. has done this fundraiser
  • Event at Puddledock Tavern where part of the proceeds go to the Recreation Dept.  Rose is going to speak with Bob Knowlton on the details.
  • Paint for Fun-Krissy will contact Paint for Fun to get details.
  • Assisting with sports concession stands
  • Invasive Plants Seminar-Conservation Committee will host.  Rose will discuss with Dave Connelly a date in January or February  
  • Variety Show in Spring
  • Any Other Business-
  • PAWWS-Krissy asked about incorporating the summer activities that PAWWS provides the children at Valley View.  Once the activities are decided Krissy will provide them and what the goals to the Rec staff.
  • Hay Day-
  • The Hay Day theme will need to be decided by the end of January.  This gives the time needed to get letters to sponsors and materials ready.  If there are any ideas before the next meeting, please email them to Alisha and Rick.  
  • The group discussed nominating a Mr. and Mrs. Hay Day.  There was discussion how in past years that there was a Hay Day pageant and the person who organized it had decided to stop doing it and no one had taken over the responsibilities.  It requires a lot of coordination and volunteers to hold the pageant. Discussion included making it simpler by nominating people and having people vote for the winners with possibility of a prize such as front row seats at the fireworks.
