MEETING MINUTES
Thursday, October 15, 2009
356 Main Street, Farmington
Members Present: JoAnn Doke, John Fitch, Ann Titus and Richard Stanley
Selectman's Rep: Joan Funk
Chairman Rich Stanley called the meeting to order at 6:22pm.
1. Passport Promotion:
The Committee reviewed the businesses that have accepted being in the promotion and the closing date for acceptance is 10-26-09. Joan got the supplies for Jeanette and everyone will follow up with their businesses and get any remaining business names to Jeanette so the passport can be created.
2. Decals:
John informed the Committee that he spoke with Cindy Snowdon about the remaining decals that have not been given to the Town. Cindy said that the decals were ruined when she left them in her truck in the heat and she doesn’t feel her son should have to pay for them because he delivered them to her. So John reminded her that she offered to pay the money for the remaining decals months ago. John stated that when he told her this Cindy stated she did not feel she should have to pay for them and would resign from the Committee if she had to. John stated that an official letter should be written to Cindy requesting her to pay the $150 for the decals that were never delivered. JoAnn stated that she feels Cindy is liable for the decals and that this is Town money. JoAnn Doke
motioned to have Rich send Cindy Snowdon a letter requesting payment of $150 for the remaining undelivered decals, 2nd Joan Funk. Motion carried.
3. Rte. 11 Signage:
Rich informed the Committee that he went to the Selectmen and they agreed these business signs would be a good idea and that Joel Moulton is expecting paperwork from the State in regards to some grants that are available for such signs. Joan suggested getting a sign like the one in Rochester by the Fire Department. The Committee discussed signs that depict the downtown has a bank, food, gas, schools, and fields would be a good idea. Rich will follow-up with Joel in regards to the grants.
4. Business Highlights:
Joan reported that she was talking to the owner of Seneca Machine and they are having a hard time economically so she stated that the Town could replay the visit they made to Seneca on Ch. 26 to help promote his business. Ann suggested maybe identifying a business of the month with maybe a large star in the window and a promo in the Puddledock Press. It was also suggested to capitalize on the Christmas Lighting Ceremony that draws a large crowd.
