BUDGET COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
Friday – January 23, 2009
356 Main Street - Farmington, NH

Members Present:        Mike Morin, Brian St. Onge, Arthur Capello, Steve Henry, Cindy Snowdon, Chris Somma and Jim Horgan.

Members Excused:        Anne Titus
Selectmen's Rep:        Gail Ellis (absent)
School Board Rep:       Joe Pitre (arrived at 6:56pm)
Public Present: Superintendent Michelle Langa

Chairman Mike Morin called the meeting to order at 6:42pm.

1.  Ms. Langa informed the committee that the School Board agreed with the recommendation to place the bus lease/purchase on the warrant.

2.  Ms. Langa informed the committee that the bottom line of the budget to be raised by taxes is $3,742,648.  The estimated revenues are $5,271,489 and the budget committee’s total recommended operating budget is $16,701,633.  If the default budget passes with the all the articles and the bus purchase then the tax impact will be $1.62.  If the default budget passes with all the articles and the bus lease then the tax impact will be $1.54.  If the budget committee’s recommended budget passes with all the articles and the bus purchase the tax impact will be $1.88 and with the bus lease $1.80.  Arthur suggested that Ms. Langa add verbage to the warrant as to the conditions of the overcrowding on the busses so that the tax payers will see the severity of the need.  Arthur Capello motioned to accept Article 6 and 7 as written, 2nd Joe Pitre.  Motion carried with Mike Morin abstaining.

3.  The committee members signed the MS-27.

The next regular meeting of the committee is scheduled for January 28, 2009 at 7pm.

Arthur Capello motioned to adjourn, 2nd Steve Henry.  Motion passed with Arthur Capello and Mike Morin abstaining.

Chairman Morin adjourned the meeting at 8:04pm.
