Meeting Minutes
Members Present: Chairman Arthur Capello, Deb Cantwell, Ann Titus, Michael Morin, Gail Ellis, Joe Pitre, Walter Mills, School Board Rep. Rich Cilley and Selectman's Rep. Martin Gilman
Public Present: Butch Lewis, Cynthia Sparks, Michelle Langa, Mike Lee and Deborah Briggs
Meeting called to order by Chairman Arthur Capello at 7:03pm
High School Budget Proposal: Principal, Mike Lee presented the proposed budget. A few lines that needed further explanation included:
1100-6400 - textbooks - 2nd yr. spanish books, math books and Sr. Lit. books
1100-7345 - to replace computer lab (15 computers in lab plus 4 in art room)
1100-7370 - copy machine, band saw, stove, fridge and 2 sewing machines
1400-3901 - officials rate went up
1400-1304 - to start efforts towards helping students meet competencies
1400-7370 - athletic equipment replacements because boosters are inactive
2220-7370 - copier replacement
HWMS Upper Budget Proposal: Principal, Butch Lewis presented the proposed budget. Only three line items needed further discussion and they were:
1. 100-1202 - substitute salaries is up because this line has been over expended the passt several years and they are trying to set the budget up responsibly.
2. Reading enrichment lines are separated this year because the state requires it.
3. The secretary's salary increase was based on her actual salary plus 3.3.% this year rather than the budgeted amount last year because the secretary had negotiated a higher salary than what was budgeted.
Valley View Community School Budget Proposal: Principal, Cynthia Sparks presented the proposed budget. There were no significant questions raised.
Superintendent, Michelle Langa stated that Joel Chagnon, Principal of HWMS Lower could not make tonight's meeting due to prior commitments but would be at the next meeting to present his budget.
Meeting adjourned at 8:26pm. Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 19, 2006.
