The State of Maine has fully funded the reconstruction of a new bridge connecting Martins Point in Portland with the Town of Falmouth. The design process included input from a citizen appointed committee from both communities. That design process led to the incorporation of lighting, bicycle and pedestrian amenities that will need to be maintained by the Town of Falmouth and the City of Portland.
The basic terms of this agreement include the Town of Falmouth's commitment to managing and controling all street lights and removing snow from vehicle travel lanes in exchange for the City of Portland removing snow from all bicycle and pedestrian amenities. The Town of Falmouth will not be responsible for specific costs related to the energy, control technology communication costs and fixture maintenance related to street lights within the limits of the City of Portland.
A copy of the agreement is attached. A separate agreement between the Town of Falmouth and the Maine Department of Transportation is also necessary and will be considered by the Town Council in the previous agenda item. |
