In 2008, the Town Attorney recommended that the Town adopt the MMA General Assistance Model Ordinance in place of the Town's General Assistance ordinance, as it was more thorough and consistent with current practices and State Statutes.
The Maine Municipal Association has now issued an update to the model General Assistance Ordinance. This 2013 edition of the ordinance incorporates legislative changes made to the General Assistance law since 2005, which was the last time MMA’s model ordinance was comprehensively updated.
The required annual updates to the GA maximums are also included in this update.
