Order to adopt a forest management plan for Town owned property.

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.
Summary:
Update - December 10, 2012. A revised order has been posted that includes more detail about a forest harvesting operations plan for all three subject properties.


The Land Management Team (LMT), consisting of the Openspace Ombudsman, Conservation Commission Chair, FTAC Chair, Falmouth Land Trust President, Falmouth Land Trust Executive Director, Conservation Corp representative, Town Manager, Parks and Public Works Director and Community Programs Director, are recommending a short and long range plan for forest management on many open space properties throughout town.

A version of the attached PowerPoint presentation was offered to the Town Council at its November 14 meeting. Several concerns and requests for addtional information have been addressed in the attached presentation including acreage areas delineated in graphics and tables. The presentation now underscores the reason for forest management is not about revenue or income. The presentation is best viewed in combination with the oral presentation. The Land Management Team also held a well received forum pertaining to this plan on December 1 at the Falmouth Memorial Library.
