The Land Management Team, former and current Town Councilors, School Department Administration and former and current School Board members, have expressed interest in the development of a railroad crossing between Community Park and the School campus.
The town manager and a town consulting engineer met with Pan Am Railways this summer to discuss whether Pan Am would consider such a project. While Pan Am could not definitively answer the question, they did indicate they would consider a project based on their review of any final design and if the Town agrees to certain conditions for future maintenance and liability.
A supplemental appropriation for engineering service is required if the Town Council would like to move forward with this project. The first phase of engineering is focused on geotechnical work which will be the foundation for future design, location, and cost estimating. |
