Subject:
Order to adopt the Cumberland County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.
Summary:
The Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA) has received conditional approval from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on the 2011 Cumberland County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update of the original 2005 Cumberland County Hazard Mitigation Plan.  FEMA requires hazard mitigation plans to be updated every five years and in order to receive final plan approval, the Cumberland County Commissioners as well as the Boards of Selectmen and Councils of the 28 Cities and Towns within Cumberland County need to adopt the plan.  Approval of the plan allows the municipalities within the County to become eligible for potential federal funding on mitigation grants.

A memorandum from Fire Chief Howard Rice is attached. The memorandum summarizes the items in the plan that are pertinent to the Town of Falmouth.
