The River Point bridge needs extensive renovations and may need full reconstruction. The Town Council will need to provide direction relative to the future of this bridge. Project costs have been estimated at approximately $400,000 but more precise estimates will require engineering services.
If this project is not supported by the Town Council, the Town will need to hire engineers to design temporary solutions or a plan to demolish and abandon the rail road crossing.
Staff recommends the following options:
- Option 1 (engineering and design associated with extensive renovation or reconstruction): Council order to support such action.
- Option 2 (temporary improvements for a short term solution to keep the bridge operational): Council order to support such action and to include all the elements of Option 1.
- Option 3 (engineering services associated with the demolition and abandoning the rail road crossing): Council order to support such action.
