Order to correct the FY11 budget order.

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.
Summary:
Due to an error by staff, the total expenditure number originally presented to the School Board in early March, and not the final number as approved by the School Board, was inadvertently inserted into the Education line-item of the final budget order approved by the Town Council on April 26, 2010.

The revised order with the correct Education department total approved by the School Board is attached to the new Council order. The order has been reviewed and approved by the Town Attorney, who has determined, based on a review of the facts, that the order does not require a public hearing, as the corrected Education number was the one presented to the Council and the public by the school department at the public meetings discussing the budget and was the total contained in their meeting handouts.

Also, it is important to note that the adjustment has no impact on the tax rate calculation, as the adjusted expenditure total was offset by additional state education revenue.
