Subject:
Order to appoint a representative of the Town Council to serve on the Falmouth School Department Superintendent of Schools search committee.

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.
Summary:
The Falmouth School Board is assembling a committee representing Falmouth's various school department stakeholders to perform the first round interviews of superintendent candidates. The culmination of the first round interview committee's effort will be a recommendation to the School Board of finalist candidates for superintendent.

School Board member Karen Farber sent this invitation to Councilor Cathy Breen:

The Falmouth School Board is assembling a committee representing Falmouth's various school district stakeholders to perform the first round interviews of superintendent candidates. The culmination of the first round interview committee's effort will be a recommendation to the School Board of finalist candidates for superintendent.
 
Respecting the confidentiality of candidates is of the utmost importance. Participants may not reveal any information regarding candidates including whether any particular individual did or did not apply for the position.

Participants should expect to be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement after completing their confidentiality training.
 
Consistent participation is integral to a successful first round interview process. Attendance at sessions noted below by an asterisk is mandatory.

Confidentiality training is a prerequisite to participating in the interviews.

In addition, the interview committee participants must be consistent across the two days of interviews. Anyone who is unable to participate on Saturday, Jan. 9 may not participate on Sunday, Jan. 10.
 
Confidentiality training will be on Monday, 11/23, at 7 p.m.
 
Participants can expect to attend 2-3 additional evening meetings between Nov. 30, 2009 and Jan. 4, 2010 to draft interview questions and interview rating scales to recommend to the School Board (we do not anticipate meeting during school vacation days); and
 
The first round of interviews will be on Saturday, Jan. 9 and Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.
 
No stipend payment or mileage reimbursement is available. This is a purely voluntary effort. Lunch will be provided on Jan. 9 and 10.
