July 13 Agenda Item 10
Subject:
Order to set meeting dates for the September Regular Meeting and the October Special Meeting due to conflicts with Holidays per Council Rules.

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.
Summary:
Section 1 of the Council Rules pertains to regular meetings.  In regards to holidays it states: "When said day falls on a holiday or on Election Day, the regular meeting shall be held on the following Wednesday, at the same time and place.  The date of any regular meeting may be changed upon vote of five members of the Council, provided, however, that said change in date will still provide for one regular meeting in each month."

The regular meeting of the Council for September 2009 would normally be held on September 28. This year that date conflicts with Yom Kippur. Also, the Special Meeting and Workshop for October would normally be held on October 12, which date conflicts with Columbus Day.  According to the Council Rules stated above, these meetings should be rescheduled to Wednesday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 14.
