Betty Williams, from the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District, will offer a presentation to the Council and public. She and the District want to make the Council and the Town aware that there is/was on-the-ground work happening to help protect the water quality of the river.
In 2006, the EPA Presumpscot Watershed Initiative Grant was awarded to the Presumpscot River Watershed Coalition and the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership. There are a number of components within the grant that encompass the many towns in the river watershed: Falmouth, Portland, Westrook, Gorham, Buxton, Windham, Standish and Cumberland. Matt Craig, Project Manager from the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, and Ms. Williams have been offering this presentation in many towns, mainly to bring awareness about the project and to report specific work in each town.
