Discussion and consideration of responding to a Request for Proposals from the Orton Family Foundation, based in Vermont, for a Heart & Soul Community Planning Grant to aid in the conduct of a visioning process and update of the Comprehensive Plan in Falmouth.
Summary:
The Orton Family Foundation is seeking partnerships with communities committed to plans for future growth inspired by their community's "heart and soul" attributes, that are eager to and capable of collaborating on a new approach to community planning that emphasizes ongoing evaluation and the sharing of best practices. The Foundation anticipates selecting two communities in New England, each of which will be eligible for up to $100,000 in supporting funds over two years. Submission deadline is March 3, 2008. Final selection is anticipated by May 30, 2008. A potential Falmouth grant application could be aimed at a town-wide visioning process and Comprehensive Plan update, which would meet an action item in the Council's Work Plan 2007-08.
