Roll Call Present and answering roll call: Kelly Fernald, Steve Hendry, John Henson, Bill McMahon, Skip Varney
Item 1 Recycling Committee Mission Statement
· The mission statement was accepted as written at the previous meeting:
The mission of the Falmouth Recycling Committee is to advise the Council and educate the community on matters related to reducing solid waste, promoting reuse, and increasing the percentage of the waste stream that is recycled.
Item 2 Silver Bullet Audit
· Maintaining the silver bullet sites requires 4 – 8 staff hours per week
· Each haul of a silver bullet costs $70.00
· Questions to be included in the ‘Silver Bullet Survey’ were discussed.
· A draft survey is included here and will be reviewed with Bonny Rodden (not sure who or when) and then finalized.
· Committee members and volunteers will be conducting the surveys.
· Surveys will be conducted at different times of the day and different days of the week.
· The survey of silver bullet usage will be conducted in August.
· Bucknam Rd. gets the most recycling and will be the focus of the surveying.
· The content and logistics of the survey will be discussed at the July meeting.
· Traffic analyzers could be used to estimate peak times for silver bullet usage. This could help focus the survey times.
· People conducting the surveys should be issued name tags from the town. Skip will be helping with this.
Hello, my name is (your name) and I am a member of/volunteer for the Falmouth Recycling Committee. We are gathering information about how these recycling facilities are being used. Would you mind answering a few brief questions? It should only take two minutes of your time.
1. How often do you recycle at this location?
2. Is your recycling from a business or a residence?
If residential:
3. What town do you live in?
4. If live in Falmouth: Why is recycling here more convenient for you than recycling at curbside?
5. Would you still recycle here if recycling was picked up curbside every week (rather than every other week)?
If business:
3b. What town is the business in?
6. Do you also donate returnables when you do your recycling here?
Item 3 Agenda for July Recycling Committee meeting
· The next Recycling Committee meeting will be Monday, July 14 at Public Works (Skip will be on vacation but the building will be open).
· Finalize survey content.
· Finalize survey logistics.
Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Bill McMahon
