Meeting Minutes from 12/18/12

The meeting was called to order at 4:00

Present: Lucky D’Ascanio, Janet Dye, Karen Jones, Jeff Mason, Marylou Murphy, Dr. Dom

The minutes from September 18, 2012 were approved. Recommendation to members to view the OceanView presentation at Town Council meeting on the Town website.

Parks Division Report – Jeff Mason
  • Repairs on FCP 1A after drainage project finished – some repairs done and some continue. Water fountain line needs work.
  • FCP playground excavation currently underway with public works and equipment has been purchased. Jeff is being re-certified as a playground inspector.
  • FLL has worked on Legion Fields and drainage with public works.
  • Will be asking Land Management Team for help with signs re. dogs. Dogs walking on the cross country ski trails is an issue.
  • Parks has requested for a third employee. This position was never filled after budget cuts four years ago.
  • Ice rinks will be maintained.
FCP Update – Lucky D’Ascanio
  • ShopFalmouth weekend saw some success. Group headed in positive direction and important that this be merchant driven to be successful.
  • FCP, Parks Division, and Open Space will all be under Community Programs. This administrative change will go to Town Council next month for changes to the language in the town ordinances.
  • Senior programming for FCP is well attended – full sessions.
  • Town Tree Lighting on December 5 was well attended.
Other Business
  • OceanView is scheduled to close on Lunt PlummerMotz property in January. The center area will be a “town green” and will be worked on in phase 1. There will also be an auditorium shared between OV and Falmouth. FCP will be responsible for scheduling the auditorium.
  • The public/private partnership is holding for some decisions on the library. OceanView has approached the library to move into the proprerty. Andy Hyland, a local architect, has also proposed a plan for the library to stay at it’s current location.  
Next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 4
