Parks and Community Programs Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes from 3/16/10
The meeting was called to order at 4:05
Present:  Janet Dye, Steve Tenney, Bonnie Troubh, Faith Varney, and Jeff Mason
The minutes from The February meeting were accepted without changes
Parks Division Report
Jeff reported on some damage due to previous rainstorm. He stated that there Pine Grove Park lost a significant amount of Pine trees and that there was quite a bit of washout i.e. the bridge in community Park.
Jeff also stated that there needs to be work done on the football field. There are waist deep ruts that need to be filled in with French drains. They are also investigating different drainage options for the little league fields.
The tennis nets are up and the lights will be up and running some time in May. Gazebo Village is getting a new metal fence and a handicap ramp.
FCP Update
Jeff reported for Lucky as she was away in DC. The summer brochure is currently at the printer. There are currently 24 people signed up for the 4mile run in May.
The FCP has applied for the governor’s council physical fitness award for the Lunt PE teacher Jen Doe for her after school physical fitness program.
The day camp dates have been set and lastly the Land management team has been working hard to get the maps ready for the town!
Community Facilities Planning
Steve and his committee met last week to finalize their recommendations to be presented at the town meeting on April 7th.  The committee has been discussing certain details such as how much land to sell to Oceanview and how much money to put into Mason Gym and the Motz wing. There is consideration to phase in the proposed Community Center due to a 2 million dollar budget. At the meeting they hope to present different ideas and present the details of the plans. They will also discuss the role of taxes. It is believed that assuming everything gets sold that it will be 140 dollar increase/400,000 house. The goal is to make the August deadline for referendum this November.
