Community Programs Advisory Committee Meeting 04/08/2008
Falmouth Recreation Activities and Community Programs Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes

April 8, 2008
Present:        Skip Varney, Lucky D’Ascanio, Faith Varney, Jack Davis, Diane Moore, Brenna Hensley, Karen Jones, Steven Tenney
Next meeting:   May 20, 4:00

I.      The meeting was called to order at 4:05.
II.     Nancy Richards has decided not to renew her term.
III.    In a meeting after the prior RACPAC meeting with Nathan Poore, Skip, Lucky and Faith, it was decided that the Parks division will remain a part of RACPAC.
IV.     Town Committees: The town’s Governance Committee is reviewing all town committees.  They would like each committee to develop and submit a work plan.
V.      RACPAC Constitution:  The majority of the meeting was spent reviewing and updating the existing RACPAC Constitution.  The attached draft reflects all of the changes.  Other issues discussed but not decided regarded member terms (to be filled on an annual basis, the staggering of terms, and term limits- likely conform to the Governance Committee), and attendance (keep as is or conform to any Governance Committee decision).
VI.     Homework: Faith asked each of us to think about things we should be doing.  Ask, “Why am I on the committee?”
VII.    Skip mentioned that the “dog waste” issue has resurfaced at Community Fields as the snow has receded.  It was agreed that it is a health and esthetic problem.  Ideas were floated to deal with the issue, including restricting dogs from the athletic side of the park and writing an article for the Forecaster.  Lucky will talk with the directors of the Yarmouth and Cumberland departments to see how they deal with the issue.
VIII.   The meeting concluded at 5:22

Respectfully submitted,

Steven Tenney
