VILLAGE OF EVENDALE
SIGN VARIANCE COMMITTEE
MINUTES FOR THE
DECEMBER 13, 2005 MEETING
The Sign Variance Committee met on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 6:00 P.M. in the Council Library of the Village of Evendale Municipal Building. Members Pat Finan, Wayne Mosley, Fred Caston and Councilman Stiney Vonderhaar were present. Chairperson Ted Mueller was absent. Also present was Pam Morin, Building Department.
Members of the public were: residents Chuck Kennedy, Johnny R. Hutson, Laura Duncan, and Doug Walden. Fred Pensinger, Princeton City Schools, and Robin Wiley, Evendale Elementary School Principal, were also present.
The committee heard the following request:
Evendale Elementary School, 3490 Glendale-Milford Road
Request to install a ground and wall sign.
Represented by Jeff Dodge, Cole Russell + Fanning Howey
Section 1262.10 of the Evendale zoning Code prohibits all ground and wall signs in the Residential District.
Pat Finan acted as Chairperson for the absent Ted Mueller.
Jeff Dodge presented an overview of the Princeton City Schools plans to replace the existing elementary school. The new entrance along Glendale-Milford Road will be located five lots west of the current entrance. The new entrance will have a 126 foot frontage. The proposed ground sign will be placed at the entrance along Glendale-Milford Road. It will be 24 square feet in area, stand approximately 5 ½ high and located 30 feet from the edge of Glendale-Milford Road It will be internally lit.
The proposed wall sign will be 10” individual letters attached to the south east corner of the building.
Chuck Kennedy lives just west of the new entrance. He had two issues: 1) He was concerned that his view when pulling out of his driveway will be impeded by the ground sign, because of the slight swale in Glendale-Milford Road coming from the direction of Plainfield Road,; 2) He also requested that the light on the ground sign be turned off by 11:00 P.M. every night.
Pat Finan asked if there will be any lights on the wall sign. Jeff Dodge confirmed that there will be floods
After a short discussion about the location of the ground sign and Section 1262.09(a)(3) of the Village of Evendale which restricts the use of lights on signs to 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., Stiney Vonderhaar made a motion to recommend to Council to approve the variance to allow both signs. Wayne Mosley seconded that motion. The motion passed with the vote of 4 – 0.
The minutes from the January 27, 2005 meeting was approved as read.
Pat Finan adjoined the meeting at 6:25 P.M.
