Additions to the Agenda: none

New Business: none

Old Business:
a. Lifestyle Essentials’ Monthly report - as noted in the packet
b. WeThrive! - Community Action Plan discussion
· Copies of the action plan were distributed for members to consider which person or groups would be best to move the plan forward into implementation over the next one, two, and five years.
· Implementing a smoking ban might be hard to do. Mary Ellen suggested using an educational approach. “Protecting young lungs at play” is an approach made by communities to promote non-smoking. The village could start with just banning smoking on fields and ball diamonds.
· Great job Mary Ellen for capturing last month’s discussion and formulating it into an outline.

Director’s Report:
a. Swimming Pool - only one company bid for the management of the swimming pool. SwimSafe Pool Management submitted a bid which is 9% higher than 2014 costs. Most of the increase is in salaries. For the subsequent two years of the bid, the contract remains the same or even
decreases. Concern was raised about the morning pool-scrubbing routine in addition to the smell and cleanliness of the restrooms. David will follow up with SwimSafe regarding the scrubbing question. Ventilation may be contributing to the restroom odor issue. David would like anyone with a concern, or issue, to email him; and he will address them with SwimSafe.
b. Fitness Center - only one company bid for the management of the fitness center. Lifestyle Essentials’ submitted a bid which is 2½% over 2014, and will increase the same percentage each year of the bid.

Phi Lambda Pi Report:
· A service project event at the Griffin Nature Preserve had the eight Phi volunteers working hard and getting messy by cleaning up trash, planting, and spreading mulch.
· The annual haunted trail held during the Halloween Fest, had 22 Phi members scaring the 125, or so, people who came through.
· The annual Rake-n-Run service project had the teens raking leaves at five Evendale homes. Next year, the members may invite their families to help with this project.
· Mark Hesse, Evendale resident and former Phi member, was hired as an additional advisor for the group.

Open Discussion:
· Thank you very much to John Doviak for all of his years of dedication to the Recreation Commission. If anyone knows of someone who would like to take John’s place as a commissioner, please ask them to notify David or the Mayor.
· To each member of the commission, the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association sent an invitation to the annual conference. If anyone would like to attend, just let David know.
· We will see most everyone on January 15, 2015.

Motion to adjourn made at 8:23am by Georgia Bergan; seconded by Mary Teufel. Motion approved.
