FINANCE, ADMINISTRATION, RECREATION, SERVICE,
ENGINEERING and GORMAN FARM
COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
March 1, 2011
The Finance, Recreation, Service, Engineering and Gorman Farm Committee met at 6:00 pm on March 1, 2011. Present were Council members Smiley-Robertson, Vonderhaar, and Schaefer. Also in attendance during portions of the meeting were Jack Cameron, Dave Nichols, James Jeffers, and Sandra Murphy.
I. Finance Reports
George advised the Council that he could not attend the meeting. He submitted his report in writing. The February financial report shows that the year to date net (without Evendale Commons) was $ -934,929.66 because of the Aerial Tower purchase ans worker’s compensation payment. Earnings tax was$786,524.48, down about $12,000.00 from February 2010. Year to date we are at $1,929,187.71, up about $18,000.00 over last year.
Finally, there will be an Ordinance authorizing a supplemental appropriation from the Court Computer fund to purchase a new credit card machine.
II. Engineering/Service
James Jeffers noted that the 2010 Road projects should restart in April. He is working with the Mayor and Jim Bothe to fix several potholes. James Jeffers and Jack Cameron also updated the counsel on some private drainage issues. Essentially it is the Village policy that public money cannot be used for drainage issues which do not involve run-off from public rights of ways, public areas, or public storm sewers.
III. Gorman Farm
Sandra Murphy presented the annual report and monthly report to the committee. They have been forwarded to Barb Rohs for distribution to all of council. Sandra explained that the five year plan will be completed by August and that several committees of the Farm board and Farm staff are working on it. Sandra has met with the Recreation department to discuss renting the Farm Picnic Pavilion through the Recreation Department. Finally, the farm was participating in a grant program sponsored by General Mills. Because the committee did not have the annual report in advance of the meeting, questions on the report, if any will be discussed at the next meeting.
IV. Recreation
Dave Nichols also presented a study of fees from surrounding communities. Since the committee had not had the opportunity to look at the material, any action was delayed until the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 pm.
