Committee Meeting

Attendees: Doug Lohmeier, Stiney Vonderhaar, John Ranz, Jack Cameron, Chief Cruse, Chief Korte

Police
  • Chief Korte advised the committee he will be need additional funding to replace TASER cartridges & Glock hand gun from Lt Phillips; it is customary to present their weapon to them at retirement.
  • Chief Korte is working with the solicitor on a teen club/dance ordinance, more details to come.
Fire

• Chief’s Promotional Process
        Two people have provided letters of intent to participate in the process
        Assessment process will be conducted on March 16, 2012

• Capt.’s Promotional Process
Three individuals will be participating in the process for this position; however it is on hold until the Chief’s position is filled.
Written test is scheduled for March 21, 2012

• Lt’s Promotional Process
        Four individuals will be participating in this process,
        Assessment interviews will be held March 8, 2012
        Written test is scheduled for March 21, 2012

• Money Allocation for Hiring Processes
The department is using the Fire Assessment Center to provided evaluations for all candidates for these three positions. They will perform question & testing in the area of Administrative Skills and Emergency Operations. Chief Cruse feels that this process will provide an independent assessment the Village can use. This assessment process will need additional funding or $11,000; the committee supported the actions and funding request.

Recreation
Dave Nichols informed us of a hiring ordinance for part-time workers to help cover hours do to employee sick leave.

Mr. Nichols brought a request to the committee to purchase new HDTV monitors for the fitness center at the request of the Mayor and fitness center users. Mr. Nichols will be using current capital item funding to purchase.

The adult services position is still being evaluated and no interviews are currently scheduled.

Alisha Hirnikel was awarded the OPRA Excellence in Youth Sports Award
