Minutes from the October 21, 2014 Meeting
Evendale Municipal Building, 10500 Reading Rd. Evendale, Ohio

Attendees: Hugh McKinnon (Chairman), members Chris Schaefer, Jeff Albrinck, Richard Finan, Tom Kuechly, Al Pearlman, Chris Patterson (Planning Commission Liaison), Sean Balnes (St. Francis Group), David Elmer (staff) and Pam Morin (staff). Absent: Dave Harwood.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman McKinnon at 7:30 am.

Approval of the September 9, 2014 meeting minutes with one correction was made on the motion of Mr. Finan, seconded by Mr. Albrinck.  The motion passed with a vote of 6-0.

Mr. Elmer informed the CIC members that Planning Commission will be having a preliminary discussion with Super Systems, Inc. at their meeting tonight.  Super System, Inc. has entered into a contract with Anchor Properties to develop a parcel in Area D-4 in Evendale Commons.  They are an international, heat treating research & development company, with focus in the aviation and automotive industries.   They do some light manufacturing.  They are proposing to build a 30,000 square foot structure which would allow them to double their current employee count to approximately 100.  They have received a preliminary approval for a six (6) year, 75% tax abatement in the Enterprise Zone with Hamilton County Development Company (HCDC).  Mr. Pearlman made and Mr. Albrinck seconded a motion to make a recommendation to Council to approve this tax abatement with the condition that Super System, Inc. receives final approval from HCDC.  The motion passed with a vote of 6 – 0.

A motion was made by Mr. Finan, seconded by Mr. Schaefer, to enter executive session to consider confidential information regarding business’ specific business strategy. The motion passed with a vote of 6-0. The CIC entered executive session at 7:20 am.

A motion was made by Mr. Finan, seconded by Mr. Schaefer, to exit executive session.  The motion passed with a vote of 5 - 0.  Mr. Albrinck left the meeting early.  The CIC exited executive session at 9:15 am.  No action was taken in Executive Session.

Mr. Elmer informed the committee that he has had discussions with Wendy’s and McDonald’s.  Both are interested in constructing new standalone buildings; Wendy’s along Reading Road south of Walgreens and McDonald’s in Evendale Commons at the intersection of Reading Road and Cunningham Drive.  There was a consensus of the CIC members that Evendale would not be interested in encouraging either of their proposals.

The next scheduled CIC meeting was set for November 18, 2014 at 7:30 am.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mr. Finan and seconded by Mr. Kuechly.  The motion passed with a vote of 5 - 0.
