Community Improvement Corporation Minutes 03/20/2012
COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT CORPORATION MEETING
Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 7:30AM

Evendale Municipal Building, 10500 Reading Road, Evendale, Ohio

Attendees:      Hugh McKinnon, Jeff Albrinck, Dave Harwood, Al Pearlman, Stiney Vonderhaar, and Jack Cameron.

Recurring Business:

1.      Approval of Minutes from November 15, 2011 Meeting (1st Vonderhaar, 2nd Pearlman – 5 aye, 0 nae, Schaefer and Szczur not present for vote).

2.      Economic Development update.
a.      GE Aviation continues to invest in their Evendale facility evidenced from building permit activity.
b.      Gold Medal is planning on expanding and increasing their business.  Jack has been working with them on possibilities in Evendale since their current location’s space is maxed out.
c.      Menards is going to appear at the April Planning Commission meeting to go over preliminary plans for Evendale Commons lot A2.  Jack should have plans to gain CIC input at the next CIC meeting.
d.      Jack spoke with a trucking logistics company who has been in contact with Anchor/Miller Valentine about office possibility. Although in the beginning stages, this company needs space for 40 employees for their calling center with space to double their headcount.

New Business:

Old Business:

1.      Business Ready Evendale Strategy action item update including; zoning code revision status, website, etc.
a.      Brief update on Zoning Code Working Group status about things proceeding smoothly and much progress has been made.
b.      Website update is in Jack’s court to provide feedback.

2.      Village Landing – no report.

3.      Village Crossings – Kelvin Hanger has met with Al. Neyer Inc. about their space needs and more information should be available at the next meeting.

Other:

1.      General discussion about incentive arrangement regarding Enterprise Zone and the idea about grant back to a company based on earnings tax generation in a given year.  Notwithstanding the particulars of a given deal, the CIC is supportive of being creative with incentives.  The general understanding is that the Enterprise Zone incentive would merit levels that trigger revenue sharing before consideration would be given for grant back to the company based on earnings tax generation.  Jack will provide some general language to consider at the next meeting that outlines some protocols for this type of deal.

2.      Central Collection of local earnings tax by the State of Ohio

Cindy Vaske and Jack continue to monitor the discussions about Central Collection.
