School Committee Members Present:  Paula Bouchard, Shannon Emery, Dorothy Perkins (7:06pm), Andrew Seeley

School Committee Members Absent: Judith Ampungan

Others present: Superintendent Arthur Wittine, Principal Maureen Pottle, Principal Terry Lux, Harper Dean, Ed Nichols, Debbie Nicholas, Martin Nicholas, Rachel Nicholas, Ellen Nicholas, Kathleen Moore, Kris Moore and Michael Ramsdell

Call the Meeting to Order.

Chairmember Paula Bouchard Called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

Adjustments to the Agenda.

     The July School Committee meeting will be held on July 12, 2005

Consideration of School Committee Minutes:

To Approve the Minutes of the May 3, 2005, School Committee Meeting, as Written or with Corrections, as Recommended by the Superintendent of Schools.

It was moved by Andrew Seeley, seconded by Shannon Emery and voted 3-0 to approve the minutes of the May3, 2005 School Committee Meeting, as written.

Administrative Reports:

a.  The report from the Principle of Eastport Elementary School is Attached.
b.  The report from the Principal of Shead High School is attached.
c.  There was no School Committee report
d.  The report from the Superintendent is attached.

Public Participation.

Harper Dean, Kathleen Moore and Rachael Nicholas asked that Kat be granted the privilege to march in graduation exercises, even thought Kat Moore is one-half credit short.  Several others spoke in support o the request.

Old Business

There was no old Business.

New Business

To Elect Cynthia Rae Rowell, Math/Science Teacher, to a Probationary (1) Teacher’s Contract for the 2005-2006 School Year as Recommended by the Superintendent of Schools.

It was moved by Dorothy Perkins, seconded by Andrew Seeley and voted 4-0 to elect Cynthia Rae Rowell as a probationary (1) math/science teacher for the 2005-2006 school year as recommended by the Superintendent of School’s.

To elect Reeser Manley, Science Teacher, to a Probationary (1) Teacher’s Contract for the 2005-2006 School Year as Recommended by the Superintendent of Schools.

It was moved by Dorothy Perkins, seconded by Andrew Seeley and voted 4-0 to elect Reeser Manly as a Probationary (1) science teacher for the 2005-2006 school year as recommended by the Superintendent of Schools.

Consideration of a Request to Use Bus During the summer.

It was moved by Dorothy Perkins, seconded by Shannon Emery and voted 4-0 to approve a request for the use of a bus during the summer and to request that those using the bus pay for the fuel.

To Adopt the Revised School Department Budget for 2005-2006 (Adopted by the City Council on 05/23/2005).

It was moved by Dorothy Perkins, seconded by Andrew Seeley and voted 4-0 to adopt the revised school department budget for 2—5-2006.

Consideration of School Committee Policies.

To Approve the First reading of the Following Policies, as written or with Corrections, as Recommended by the Superintendent of Schools.

GBN           Family and Medical Leave
GBN-R1     Family and Medical Leave – Administrative Procedure
GBN-R2     Maine Family Medical Leave – Administrative Procedure
JKG            Physical Restraint

It was moved by Dorothy Perkins, seconded by Shannon Emery and voted 4-0 to approve the first reading of the aforementioned policies.

Adjournment.

Paula Bouchard adjourned the meeting at 8:05 pm.
