Revaluation
The revaluation of all properties in Eastport has begun.  Jacki Robbins, CMA, began the revaluation process at Carlow Island and Quoddy Village .  Progress will be made from North end to the middle and finally South end.

The revaluation includes the exterior of the property as well as the interior.  The interior consists of recording the number of bathrooms, the kitchen, and evaluating the basement.

Revaluation is not meant to raise property taxes but it is likely some properties will rise in value while some decrease in value while some remain the same.  Revaluations are required by the State of Maine every 10  years.  The revaluation is expected to be completed in the spring of 2017.  No changes will be made to tax bills until the entire revaluation is complete.

Jacki Robbins, CMA will provide proof of identification to all residents.  If you are not at home, she will leave a card explaining how you may reach her.

Property owners have the right to refuse entry to their property.  Please be advised that if a complete revaluation cannot take place due to refused entry, the revaluation of the property will still occur and the value will be determined by the assessor using best available data.
