Survey Announcement
The following information is important to all Eastport residents:

With the collapse of the Breakwater, the city is being offered the opportunity to receive a $1,000,000 infrastructure grant to assist with rebuilding the facility.

Due to random income sampling last year, Eastport is no longer considered to be predominately "low to moderate income" (we missed the mark by .23%) and so Eastport loses its opportunity for many sources of grant funding.

To receive the $1,000,000 grant, we must show that at least 51% of Eastport residents are still low to moderate income.  To assist us with this process, Washington County Council of Governments and the Sunrise Economic Council are combining forces to conduct an income survey of Eastport residents.

The details:

  • Postcards and/or letters will be sent to every household in Eastport advising of the upcoming income survey
  • It's important to note this is not a scam
  • Every household will receive a letter or postcard but only half the households in Eastport will actually be contacted for the income survey
  • Survey team members will physically contact the selected households between the week of Christmas and New Year's
  • The income information is totally anonymous and is strictly used to help Eastport receive $1,000,000 to aid in breakwater replacement
Washington County Council of Governments is looking for 10 - 12 people to assist with the door to door surveying.  This is expected to take one day to complete.  For more information on assisting with the survey,  please call Judy  (WCCOG) at 454-0465,  or Jennifer (Sunrise Economic Council) at 255-0983.

If you have any questions at all, please call City Hall at 853-2300.

Thank you for your help with this very important survey!
