Reduced Cost (or FREE) Home Energy Audits in Eastport!
The Eastport Energy Committee, in collaboration with the Affordable Heat Consortium, is working on more affordable heat choices in Eastport.

Currently, we have an opportunity to subsidize residential heat audits (and 6 hours of air sealing remedies in each participating house), using grant funds and a major rebate from Efficiency Maine and the Maine Technology Institute.  You can see images of the first cycle of audits in Eastport by clicking here.

This means that, as a demonstration of what can be done quickly and easily, we are currently looking for home owners with an interest in lowering next winter's heating bills.  You need to be in the Eastport area and a full-time owner/occupier of your home.

It amounts to $600 worth of time and materials with a $400 rebate from Efficiency Maine, leaving a $200 cost.  Of this, our project's grant funding is prepared to subsidize a further $50-200 per house as needed, bring the final cost to each participant to $0-150.

By doing this audit, which will be conducted this summer by BPI-certified Maine Thermal Energy Services, you get a full report on the efficiency of your home heating system (fuels, boilers/furnace performance, insulation, air flow, air quality, etc.)  This report is quite useful and a prerequisite for further (much larger) subsidies from Efficiency Maine in case you ever choose to invest in a new heating system or comprehensive weatherization.

Just contact Energy Committee chair Jon Calame to get on the list and receive more detailed information.  He may be reached on his cellphone:  1-845-363-6564 or jcalame@thermalefficiency.org
