A.              Plans for School Opening
As this agenda is prepared on August 22, we anticipate opening for students on Thursday, September 7, as planned.  Inspections of the necessary rooms are scheduled for the morning of August 29, and the necessary work to pass those inspections is scheduled over the upcoming week.  I will ask Mrs. Helman to notify parents of this evening’s opportunity to confirm the plans, or (should the contractor fail to meet this week’s deadlines) learn whatever contingencies must be put in place.  Should there be any change in this forecast, I will be in touch with the Committee members by email on Monday or Tuesday.

There has been discussion of the timetable for turning over rooms after school opens. We will keep the Committee informed as this schedule is developed.  At this point, we have been focused on the rooms necessary to begin school.

B.              Administrators’ Reports
Mrs. Helman’s report will include both an enrollment update and the latest anticipated special education budget report.  A student’s relocation to Eastham will require an additional educational assistant to meet his special needs.  Because the move came to our attention so close to the beginning of the school year, I authorized advertising in anticipation of the Committee’s approval.

Recommendation:  Approve special educational assistant position.

There will also be a report on the status of personnel changes.
