B. Authorize Teacher Layoff
As explained, the FY 09 budget includes one fewer classroom teacher than we currently employ. With the return of a teacher from sabbatical leave, one teacher in the K-5 discipline must be laid off.
Recommendation: Authorize K-5 teacher layoff.
C. Consider School Choice
School Choice loses money for the receiving communities in Union #54 once students enter the regional schools, since we are not fully regionalized.
Recommendation: Vote not to participate in School Choice for 2008-09.
