Site Walks of “Open Space” CPA Proposals
Nauset Road and Bridge Road

Nauset Road / Nauset LLC Property
This is a 20 acre parcel. It is located on Nauset Road north of the Tilcon Plant. This property is being put forth as an open space purchase in the CPA application for water supply protection because it is located in a water protection district. The group walked on a portion of the property. It appears to be stripped of all vegetation and is an active construction site. Discussion ensued with respect to potential nearby sources of water pollution such as the shooting range to the north, the Tilcon plant to the south and potentially the site itself due to nature of it’s current use. All seemed to agree that a 21E report confirming that the property is “clean” would make sense prior to the purchase of this property for water protection.
Bridge Road / Crary Property
This property is being put forth as an open space purchase. Half of the parcel is being offered. There was no proposed price on the property as of yet. The group viewed the property from Joshua Road. It was noted that this was the last large undeveloped parcel in this area of town. Discussion ensued with respect to the six criteria the open space committee bases it’s rating scale for open space. This property did not have any of the six criteria. The possibility of buying more of the parcel was brought up. It was also questioned whether splitting off a portion of this property would make the existing cottage colony non-conforming.
