Approval of Meeting Minutes

APPROVED
Land Acquisition
Mumford , White and the Freeman Hatch – All three properties are on the warrant for the next town meeting. Sheila stopped into the meeting and said that all three articles have the language to put conservation restrictions on the parcels. We decided to have an “Open House” at each property on April 25th between 2-4 (with a raindate of May 2nd). We will have Committee Members at each property to walk interested parties through the properties. The public hearing for the warrant review is April 20th – this would be a good opportunity to introduce the properties and invite people to the open house.
Open Space Management Plan
Walters Property: No plans for now – other trails take priority. This property is best left as passive habitat for now.
Open Space & Recreation Plan Update
Sue Horton has made substantial progress organizing and updating the plan. After a particular section has been incorporated into the plan it will be given back to the author of that section to proofread. The matrix is almost done. The summary needs to be re-written.
Grant Application: There is a grant application for available funds for projects such as building walkways in open space parks. The bridge we will need to connect Wiley Park to the Mumford property is a perfect candidate. It was decided we should apply.
Progress in Wiley: There has been a lot of progress made in Wiley Park and more to come with a big spring planting at the 1651 Forest.
1651 Forest
There is a large spring planting planned with more beech trees and white pines being added.
Conservation Commission
Nothing unusual to report.
Other Business:
Pathways Walk in June: This is the biggest pathways event of the year. Sue Haley was going to talk to Hortense Kelly who has organized this walk in the past.
Open Space Brochure: Eastham’s computer expert agreed that the boxes in the brochure are a problem because they will never line up. The brochure will be reworked to eliminate the boxes.
Next Meeting: Our next open space meetings will be April 21, 2004 at 7:30 pm.
MOTION: George made a motion to adjourn. Dave seconded. APPROVED unanimously.
Adjourned at 8:55 pm
Respectfully submitted by Laura Freeman
