BOARD OF HEALTH WORKSHOP

PRESENT: Dr. James Taylor, Chairman, Pat Larivere, R.N., Co-Chairman, Dr. Lois Roth-Johnson, Jane Crowley, M.S., R.S., Health Agent, Susan Barker, Assistant Health Agent
I. OPENING STATEMENTS
Dr. Taylor commented that he would like the workshops to continue, he hopes everyone is getting something out of it, would like to continue communication.
Pat Lariviere mentioned the boil water order in effect in the town of Falmouth. Members discussed the difference between Eastham water and towns with town water.
Dr. Taylor suggested a brief discussion at a meeting which would entail what to do if water is contaminated.
II. DISCUSSION OF LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH REGULATIONS INCLUDING ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE LOT
Discussion by the Board about nitrogen sensitive areas which encompass all of the town. Discussion about Environmentally sensitive areas of town. To protect the public health all lots are nitrogen sensitive, also some are deemed environmentally sensitive by local regulation.
Discussion about environmentally sensitive area regulation, compliance is required.
Brief discussion regarding current thoughts on upgrades of cesspools. Automatic upgrade required? Guidelines for upgrade of cesspools are outlined in local regulations. Upgrades are generally one at a time, 1. at time of transfer, 2. at the time a building permit is submitted.
Dr. Taylor closed the workshop at 10:00am.
