EASTHAM COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
Meeting: October 18, 2007
Attendance: Carol Martin, Selectmen’s liaison, Henry Curtis, Glenn Collins, Sue Horton; Kathryn Sette, Elizabeth Simmons, Cheryl Gayle, and David Skiba, Members
Hank presented the Community Preservation analysis of expended funds prepared by the Town Accountant which was extremely helpful. Eastham Elementary School Playground funds as well as Schoolhouse Museum funds have been expended. Much of the funds for the Glacial Trails and Ancient Cemeteries funds also have been expended.
All members voted in favor of the two (2) signs to be prepared by Young & Fancy indicating support of projects by the Community Preservation funds.
Glenn reported that the bridge connecting project at Wiley Park should commence within one (1) month.
Hank shall ask recipients, including the Glacial Trails and Ancient Cemeteries projects, to update the Committee on their progress and also shall ask Town Administrator Sheila Vanderhoef to address the Committee relative the Neighborhood Gas Station project. If the project can not go forward, a discussion of rescission may follow.
Town Accountant is going to discuss the Community Preservation analysis at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23rd. Hank has been disseminating press releases relative to the November 30, 2007, deadline for 2008 Town Meeting Community Preservation Act requests. The members all voted in favor of encouraging informal letters of intent from applicants in the future for consideration and feedback from the Committee. Hank mentioned that Melody of the Building Department has requested copies of earlier CPA applications. David shall check with Melody to see if said copies are in the Town Planner’s office and will provide copies of applications for copying by the administration, if necessary.
Cheryl reported that the Community Preservation Act Coalition shall be hosting a meeting on Saturday, November 10, 2007, and that reservations are encouraged.
Carol Martin noted that the Town library may be applying for preservation funds to preserve or rehabilitate the front of the library, notwithstanding that there is some discussion of a new library in the future. Carol further reported that the Town is recruiting members for the revised Housing Task Force and that Jeannette Sandblom is the chairman of the Search Committee. The minutes of September 20, 2007, were approved, and the next meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on November 15, 2007. Adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
David J. Skiba, Clerk
