MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES FOR THE OCTOBER 5, 2005 MEETING
Meeting called to order at 8:15 PM.
Members:
· Present were Chairman Ron Rencurrel, Don Ouellette, Bernadette Burgess, Bob Donahoe and Mike Kain
· Absent with permission were Tina Jas , Dave Badger and Dave Maynard
· Representing the town selectmen, P. Whitlock (absent).
Minutes of the September meeting were approved.
OLD BUSINESS
The committee members took on assignments in the major areas of concern for 2005-2006:
· Communication: Bernadette Burgess(lead), Don Ouellette, Dave Maynard
· Safety/signage: Don Ouellette(lead), Tina Jas, Mike Kain, Dave Badger
· Maintenance: Bob Donahoe(lead), Don Ouellette, Dave Maynard, Ron Rencurrel
· Special Events: Dave Badger(lead), e.g. “tour de trail”
· Engineering Studies: Dave Maynard(lead), e.g. Brackett Road, Tunnel projects
NEW BUSINESS
Communications: Tina Jas had suggested compiling a list of important contacts detailing people who are in positions to contribute to the betterment of the bike trail. Don Ouellette agreed to produce that list.
Safety/Signage: Don indicated that a number of roads used frequently by bikers do not have signs such as “Share the Road.” We should make a proposal to the town selectmen suggesting which roads should be posted with these signs. The obvious ones are Brackett Road, Bridge Road, and Massasoit. Bernadette suggested we ask the Pan-Mass bike association and the Windmill Committee.
Maintenance: Don Ouellette suggested sending a letter to America corps for work in April or May. Bob Donahoe will draft the letter for presentation to the Town Administrator. The next work detail will be on October 21st. All are invited.
OTHER BUSINESS
Engineering Studies: Dave Maynard referred to his letter to the Town concerning work on Brackett Road. This subject is expected to be discussed at an upcoming Selectman meeting. We also want to coordinate with the Town Planner.
Don Ouellette stated that the parking lot by the trail on Brackett Road needs development due to flooding and debris following any rainfall.
The next meeting will be on November 2, 2005 at 8:15 AM
