MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES FOR THE May 9, 2005 MEETING
Meeting called to order at 4:30 PM.
Members:
· Present were Chairman Don Ouellette, Bernadette Burgess, Tina Jas, Mike Kain, and Dave Maynard.
· Absent with permission were Dave Badger, Bob Donahoe and Ron Rencurrel.
· Representing the town selectmen, P. Whitlock (absent).
Minutes of the April committee meeting were approved.
Old Business
Trail Signage: Dan Obrien sent the following email in reply to a question about trail signage:
Hi Don - We are planning to update the old “blue” orientation kiosk maps with you are here info, rules, emergency dial 911, locations of police/fire, parking, toilets, etc.~ As far as recommending food this is not something we can get involved in.~ A notice will go out soon for a public meeting.~ Thanks for all you do for CCRT.~ Danny~

Forging alliances: Debbie Abbot from the fire department prepared a report covering the past year biking accidents that the department responded to. We need to somehow determine how many more unreported accidents occur. The report is a good beginning.
Trail Maintenance: Americorp again did a great job on Friday May 6th. Work began at Nauset Road and proceeded south. Efforts were made to cut and trim several feet away from the trail. Cuttings were neatly stacked along the trail away from the traveled path. A note will be sent to Jon Peterson at Nickerson State Park asking him to schedule pick up of the debris.
Safety Program: Mike Kain reported that he had contacted a J. Smith at the Technical School about the possibility of building signs to announce the approach of the tunnel. There is interest in helping us. Mike wrote a letter outlining our ideas.
Storm Drain covers: It was noted that some storm sewer grates on Nauset road are of the old style which present a hazard for bicycles with narrow tires. Bernadette Burgess will follow up on the status of earlier discussions to fix this problem.
New Business
· Judy Brainerd sent an email to advise us of a cleanup project on the Hatch property on Saturday June 4th. Don will send out an email nearer the time to remind committee members.
The next meeting will be on Monday, June 6, 2005.
The meeting ended at 5:25 PM.
