EASTHAM BIKEWAYS COMMITTEE
MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES FOR THE MARCH 7, 2005 MEETING
Meeting called to order at 4:30 PM.
Members:
· Present were Chairman Don Ouellette, Bob Donahoe, Dave Maynard and Mike Kain.
· Absent with permission were Dave Badger Bernadette Burgess, Tina Jas and Ron Rencurrel.
· Representing the town selectmen, P. Whitlock (present)
Minutes of the January committee meeting were approved. There was no meeting in February.
Old Business
Trail Signage:
Don reported that the street signs will be included in the $5 million appropriation from the State. We will purchase stick-on letters for use on the bollards should they be needed. We will reconsider the need for funding for other related matters.
Forging Alliances: There will be work done on the tunnel as a part of the $5 million appropriation which should facilitate turns prior to entering the tunnel. Peter Whitlock has discussed the statistics matter with the Chief. Other design changes will be incorporated on the trail. Don will meet with the Fire Chief, explain what it is we desire, and see what information the Fire Department can provide the EBC with
Open Space: No changes here.
Trail Maintenance: We will begin work again in May. America Corps was scheduled to work on the CCRT in late January. This didn’t materialize due to the weather.
Input from Terry Whalen: Don notified the members that Terry will be leaving for Chatham soon. Terry was a very valued member of the town staff and we wish him well.
Safety Program: Mike Kain reported no progress since January.
New Business
Don mentioned that he meet with the Town Administrator to discuss parking areas along the Trail.
Discussion centered on the sidewalk / trail scheduled for Brackett Road. Peter suggested that Don contact the Critical Planning Committee.
The next meeting will be on Monday, April 11, 2005, which is a change from our schedule. The May meeting will also be deferred by one week to May 9th
The meeting ended at 5:20 PM.
