Minutes of the November committee meeting were approved. The meeting took place at Ron Rencurrel’s home as we had failed to properly post the December meeting.
Ron thanked Barbara Tague for her hard work and significant time spend with the EBC during the past 3 years. Barbara will be spending more time in her North Carolina home in the next 2 years.
We will be placing Jack Slavin, MIS Director, on copy of our minutes per Peter Whitlock’s suggestion. Jack may post these on the Town’s website.
Old Business
Trail Signage:
The Town Administrator has requested that Don call her. It appears that EBC will order the equipment and install it during the Spring. Apparently the payment procedure has been worked out. Don will provide status at the January meeting. Bernadette Burgess and Bob Donahoe rode the trail in mid-November and have made recommendations regarding the sign detail (location, type and wording).
Forging Alliances: No change in status. We are waiting for Peter Whitlock to discuss obtaining information from the Fire Department with the Town Administrator.
Open Space: No changes here.
Input from Terry Whalen: Ron went over Dave Maynard’s memo to him dated December 6th. Dave had met with Terry in mid-November and requested him to provide us the current scope of work for the CCRT via Danny O’Brien, DCR. Additionally, we are interested in obtaining the scope of future CCRT work planned in Eastham so that we may provide specific input to include possible signage for the tunnel. There is no further status.
Dave’s note pointed out that work on the section of the CCRT from Boat Meadow creek to Gov. Prence is continuing. The contractor has cut and removed trees back three (3) feet from the east edge of the pavement and ten (10) feet from the west side, installed hay bales, removed the old fences, ground up the old pavement and mixed in 1-3/4 inch stone, installed root barriers in selected areas, graded and rolled the base, installed the binder pavement course, added topsoil to the shoulder, installed new fencing and put on the finish pavement course.
Safety Program: The members were positive on developing a safety information program for the CCRT. Both Tine Jas and Mike Kain showed enthusiasm in this effort and will report further status in January. Potential subjects to be addressed are helmets, tunnel safety and potentially other material. There appear to be two (2) good locations on the trail to place this material.
Trail Maintenance: We have finished our work for the season. We did work on the entire Eastham portion of the CCRT during this year. We’ll start again in the spring following America Corps anticipated work in the winter – early spring.
New Business
The next meeting will be on Monday, January 3, 2005. The Secretary will be certain that proper posting are completed for this meeting following a personal lesson from the Town Administrator on December 6th!
The meeting ended at 5:45 PM.
