Bikeways Committee
Minutes of May 9, 2012 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM.
Present: Sheri Cocchiola, Carol Dobek, Bob Donahoe, Mike Giblin, Judy Parmelee, Paul Schofield,

Absent: Bill O’Shea (excused)
Guests: Mike Fontanarosa, Andrea Aldana
The minutes of April 11, 2012 were approved as presented.
Old Business
- May12 Bike Ride-Sheri reported that the posters are up and police are ready to assist. Bill O’Shea joined Mass Bike and has 20 t-shirts, 20 bells and 20 reflectors for the participants. The event is registered on Mass Bike. Publicity has been sent to several radio stations. Notices were sent by the Recreation Department to the Cape Codder and CC Times. Christine Mickle from Recreation will bring permission slips to the start.
- Volunteer Open House-This was held on May 5. There was little activity, but Carol invited Andrea Aldana to attend this meeting with expectation of her joining this committee. Other town committees had little response.
- Bike Repair Workshop-This will be held on Saturday, June 2 from 10-12. Bob will cover the event. Flyers have been distributed. Marketing strategies were discussed.
- Foreign language signs-Paul brought the laminated signs. These will be put in several places including bike rental shops, and several areas near the Rail Trail.
- Election of Officers
Paul Schofield was unanimously elected to be Chair beginning in July.
The position of clerk is still unfilled; the election for this post was delayed until the next meeting.
New Business
Sheri raised the question of members continuing to clean up trash on assigned portions of the rail trail. This will be put on the agenda for the June meeting.
The next meeting will be held on June 13, 2012 at 5 PM.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 PM.
