BIKEWAYS COMMITTEE
Minutes of July 6, 2011 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 8:16 AM.
Present: Cocchiola, Donahoe, Giblin, Parmelee.
Absent: Schofield
Excused: Dobek
The minutes of June 1, 2011 were approved as presented.
Bob Donahoe received a copy of the changes in the open meeting law. He will review and summarize for the members for the August meeting.
Old Business
- Chairperson’s Open House. Attendance by the public was minimal. No bikeways candidates emerged.
- Americorps. Bob will complete the application and get it to the Town Administrator’s office for forwarding to Jon Petersen at Nickerson State Park.
New Business
- PMC is August 7. Bob, Carol, Mike and Judy are volunteers and will also handle various signs as in past years. Bob will check with Deputy Police Chief Roderick about police coverage.
- Bob was notified that the Recreation Department is sponsoring a family bike ride/workshop this summer. The information suggested that Bikeways is a co-sponsor. The Committee is unaware of this. Bob will investigate with the Recreation Department.
- Sheri was notified by the former chair about interest in another ride during the fall. It was moved that at this time we commit to sponsor only one ride a year in the spring. This was passed unanimously.
- Paul Schofield sent an email to the Chair requesting action regarding the fence at the driving range. This item was unanimously tabled until the August meeting.
- Sheri brought up the bike trail renovation in Province Lands. This is CCNS property. She also mentioned that Provincetown is considering forming a Bikeways Committee. .
- Mike asked about crosswalk signs for Samoset and Brackett. Bob will check with Eastham PD.
- It was again asked if the information sign at Brackett will be moved back to the south side of the road. Bob will check with DPW.
- There was a discussion on holding meetings in the winter months. No decision was made.
The Committee will meet next on 3 August 2011.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 AM.
