EASTHAM BOARD OF ASSESSORS
Minutes of November 5, 2012 Meeting
Chairman Sette called the meeting of the Board of Assessors to order at 9:00 a.m. in the Small Meeting Room.
Present: Assessors Sette, Cahill, and Buffington, Deputy Assessor Gail McAleer, and Field Appraiser/Data Collector Bruce Cabral.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Board VOTED unanimously to APPROVE the minutes of the October 12, 2012 meeting.
The Board reviewed the FY09 personal property settlement offer by Verizon New England Inc for their pending Appellate Tax Board case. The ATB recently ruled that poles and wires in public ways are not taxable as personal property. The FY09 values generated by the Department of Revenue for the personal property owned by Verizon in all the cities and towns in the Commonwealth included the poles and wires in public ways. The taxes assessed in FY09 for the poles and wires in public ways in Eastham owned by Verizon are $8,872.48.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
Doreen Cahill made a motion to convene Executive Session per M.G.L. c.30A, Sec. 21 to discuss FY13 abatements and exemptions.
Joanna Buffington seconded.
Roll call vote was taken to enter Executive Session at 9:15 a.m.
Cahill-yes, Sette-yes, Buffington-yes
The Board exited Executive Session at 10:30 a.m.
The meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
