David will write a letter to John McShane, thanking him for his efforts in promoting Visitabilty features. He will ask Mr. McShane to inform the realtors that are handling his units re: Visitability info and also to add this info to his advertisements. 3) No report on whether or not Frank spoke to the 2 builders on Steele Road re:
Visitability. 3) Wiley Park Bridge: The bridge is completed. Trail work was started but a sub-contractor caused some damage so trail development is at a standstill. Henry Lind went back to the Selectmen for more CPA funds, but was denied. Henry will seek help of a consultant. Richard will write a letter to Henry thanking him for his efforts so far and asking for periodic updates on progress.
AD HOC COMMITTEE on VISITABILITY:
Grady summarized the information on Visitability, including Mr. McShane’s cost estimates, and put together a packet that can be handed out to builders, real estate agents, AHC members, and at the MOD meeting on April 16th in Eastham. 100 copies will be made initially.
Grady will speak to Marilyn Miller about doing an article for the Cape Codder re: Visitability.
OTHER DISABILITY COMMITTEES: We received Minutes from Orleans Commission on Disabilities Meeting of January 25, 2008.
Richard and David will make arrangements to attend the Harwich Disability Commission meeting to speak on Visitability.
HEARING ASSIST FOR SMALL MEETINGS: We heard third-hand that there is no money in the Town budget to provide a portable sound system for small meetings. Richard will speak to Mike again. David suggested that we may have to send a complaint to the State. Hearing Assist should be available for all small public meetings.
ADDING PACE MEMBERS: We will contact other groups that may recommend potential PACE members: COA, local clergy, High School Principal/Guidance Councilor.
PACE BROCHURES: Some copies of the old brochure were printed up to distribute until a new brochure is completed. Richard received a 3-page list of new businesses in town. PACE members will be assigned various areas of town to check on accessibility.
LONG-RANGE PLANNING: Letter from Richard Bryant, of the LRP Committee is forthcoming.
