MINUTES of February 29, 2008
Town Garage Meeting Room
Meeting was called to order at 7:05 a.m.
In attendance were: John Hanson, Vinnie Susco, Ted Hintz, Mark Barmasse, Peter Aarrestad and Melissa Engel. Bob Heidel and John Tuttle were absent. Bob Drewry arrived at 7:29.
Minutes of 2/1/08 and 2/15/08 were approved with an exception to paragraph 5 of the 2/15/08 minutes. Mr. Susco pointed out that there is a safe yield of 23 gpm as opposed to the 28 reported. So noted. Motion made by Mr. Hintz, 2nd by Mr. Hanson to approve.
Mr. Susco provided GeoInsights project schedule as well a list of equipment needed to complete the Consent Order along with the operating budget of the Village Water System for the past five years. It is anticipated that Town will have to subsidize $18,000 annually for the new system.
Mr. Susco also presented a list of additional businesses and residents in the village center that would like water. A lengthy discussion ensued about the possibility of finding additional water that could serve all requests. The state will not allow the drilling of a new well in a contaminated area. However, if the Library’s well is not contaminated, perhaps that could serve as a third source. Mr. Susco will provide testing results of the well at the Library as well as a map that delineates contaminated water areas. Mr. Barmasse posed an interesting question…do we save the excess water for a future Town Hall site or provide it to the existing residents who have been asking for it?
Mr. Tuttle & Ms. Engel will provide a Phase One plan to the Council at its March 11 meeting requesting approval of the plan and the expenditure of funding to complete it.
Second meeting with St. Clements is scheduled for last week of March. Next Task Force meeting is March 14th.
