Minutes
Present: Chairperson Susan Weintraub (via telephone), Vice Chairman Glenn Suprono and Council Members Kyle Dostaler, Ted Hintz, Jr., Barbara Moore and George Pfaffenbach. Also present were Town Manager Michael Maniscalco, Recording Secretary Cathy Sirois and citizens.
Not Present: Derek Johnson
Call to Order & Pledge of Allegiance
Vice Chairman Suprono called the special meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room.
Meeting Overview
Mr. Suprono reported that the applicants for the Board of Fire Commissioners were interviewed by the Appointments Sub-Committee. Four of those applicants will be interviewed by the full Council and three will be chosen to be seated on the Board of Fire Commissioners.
Public Remarks
Gary Nicol, 89 Daniel Street and Bill Dinunzio, 40 Spice Hill Drive, spoke in favor of applicant Brett Salafia.
An email from Jeffrey Borgio was also received in support of Brett Salafia.
Executive Session
A motion was made by Mr. Dostaler, seconded by Ms. Moore, to enter Executive Session at 6:40 p.m. for the interview of Fire Commission applicants. Voted (5-0).
Present in Executive Session were Glenn Suprono, Kyle Dostaler, Ted Hintz, Jr., Barbara Moore, George Pfaffenbach and Michael Maniscalco. Susan Weintraub was present via telephone.
Executive Session ended at 7:35 p.m.
A motion was made by Mr. Dostaler, seconded by Ms. Moore, to appoint the following individuals to the Board of Fire Commissioners:
Eric Valli with a term through November 30, 2013
Brett Salafia with a term through November 30, 2014
Eric Germain with a term through November 30, 2014
Voted (6-0).
Adjournment
A motion was made by Ms. Moore, seconded by Mr. Dostaler, to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
