Minutes

Present:  Chairperson Melissa Engel, Vice Chairman John Tuttle and Council Members Chatham Carillo, Thomas Cordeiro, Christopher Goff, Barbara Moore and Susan Weintraub.  Also present were Interim Town Manager Robert Drewry, Finance Director Jeffery Jylkka and Recording Secretary Cathy Sirois.

Chairperson Engel called the Special Meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. in the East Hampton High School Library.

Public Remarks
Angela Sarahina, 37 Old Middletown Avenue, commented on the salaries of Chief Building Official Jim Carey and Assistant Superintendent Kevin Reich.  She also commented that Kevin Reich’s former position is still in the budget.

Discuss and Adopt the 2011-2012 Budget
Chairperson Engel met with Barbara Moore, Robert Drewry and Jeff Jylkka to discuss possible modifications to the budget. Ms. Engel reviewed those possible modifications to the 2011-2012 budget. The modifications represent an additional $71,798 reduction over the Board of Finance’s proposed cut of $250,000.  The additional cuts would be from the Town Operations portion of the budget.  No additional cuts were proposed for the Board of Education’s portion. The worksheet containing the possible modifications will be included in the minutes filed in the Town Clerk’s office.

A motion was made by Mr. Cordeiro, seconded by Ms. Moore, to approve the additional budget cuts and send the budget to the referendum.  Voted (7-0).

A motion was made by Mr. Goff, seconded by Mr. Tuttle, to adjourn the meeting at 7:05 p.m. Voted (7-0).
