Minutes
Present: Chairperson Melissa Engel, Vice Chairman John Tuttle and Council Members Christopher Goff, and Susan Weintraub. Also present were Interim Town Manager Robert Drewry, Director of Finance Jeffery Jylkka, Recording Secretary Jennifer Magro, members of the press and citizens.
Call to Order: Chairperson Engel called the special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center Conference Room.
Executive Session: Discussion on the potential settlement of the following case: Standard Demolition Services, Inc. v. Town of East Hampton, Bridgeport Superior Court Case No. CV-10-6012252
A motion was made by Mr. Goff, seconded by Mr. Tuttle, to enter Executive Session at 6:00 p.m. Voted (4-0).
The Council members listed above and Mr. Drewry and Mr. Jylkka were present in Executive Session.
The Council exited Executive Session at 6:08 p.m.
Action on proposed settlement:
A motion was made by Mr. Tuttle, seconded by Mr. Goff, to enter into settlement negotiations with Standard Demolition Services, Inc. to resolve the matter at a settlement of $39,376.43. Voted (4-0). Ms. Weintraub was disappointed that the community will not get the bridge completely functional but it is best without litigation and there is nothing more to do. Ms. Engel indicated the settlement is the least cost effective measure.
A motion was made by Mr. Goff, seconded by Mr. Tuttle, to adjourn the meeting at 6:09 p.m.
