Minutes

Present:  Chris Hanson, Jeremy Hall, Deb Mckinney, Dan Roy, Courtney Hyte, Jessica Rurka, Sheryl Dougherty

Call to Order:  Deb Mckinney called the meeting to order.   

Approval of the minutes of the October 2nd, Regular Meeting
Sheryl Dougherty motioned to approve the minutes.  Deb Mckinney seconded.  All approved.

Communications

Unfinished Business
  • Seamster Park Playground Update
The Town Budget has passes so there is $152,000 in the playground account.  The dropbox account has been updated for committee members to view the playground and any changes that were made to the design.  A date is now needed for the build to start.  Options are July 9-14 and August 6-11 of 2019.  Dan Roy motioned to approve the August 6-11the date as a tentative schedule.  Jessica Rurka seconded the motion.  All approved.  
  • Volunteers
The August date was chosen to make it easier for volunteers and their availability.  
  • Materials Coordinator
Jeremy Hall is working with Ace Hardware to act as the materials coordinator for the project.  
  • Air Line Trail Update
The project is on pace to be finished by the end of November.  After the wetlands approval goes through the next phase can be officially approved.  
  • Field Maintenance/Fees
Jeremy reviewed the field maintenance and fields policies with everyone.  Jeremy will give an update at the next meeting and a motion will be required.         
  • Program update
Jeremy Hall gave an update of the status of Parks and Recreation Programs.  
  • Jingle Bells Parade Dec 1st
The Parks and Recreation Department is working with the Library, Fire Department and Downtown Business district on this event.  The date is set and a meeting is scheduled for final planning on November 15th.  

New Business

  • Air Line Trail Sub Committee
The Parks and Recreation Department is looking to establish a sub committee to help with future projects.  Duties would include help with maintenance, events, programs and serving as advocates for the trail.  The committee members must be users of the trail and able to participate in events, cleanups and make recommendations on projects.  The committee will consist of 6 members 2 of which will be from the advisory board.  
  • Adopt a Resolution for Council (Possible Motion)
Dan Roy motioned to approve the resolution and the Airline Trail Sub-Committee.  Jessica Rurka seconded.  All approved.  A copy of the resolution is attached.

Director’s Report
  • Budget Update
The Town Budget has passed and was approved.  
  • Walleye Released into Pocotopaug
2,500 Walleye were stocked into the lake.
